Searching for a Successor

After seven years of serving as Executive Director for Gold Country Community Services, Sandy “Jake” Jacobson will be stepping down at the end of April.

The reason for her departure is of a personal nature and in time she hopes it will be something she can explain with clarity. After seven years at the helm, Jacobson says there are millions of things she wishes to say about the tremendous opportunity she was given and the amazing journey she felt so fortunate to have, but now is not the time. The important thing right now is to find a successor to take the helm and provide the leadership needed to ensure that our seniors stay warm, fed and cared for.

The Search Committee met for the first time on February 9th to define the application process and consider some potential candidates. The first review of applications will begin on March 16th. Anyone interested in this position or who may know a potential candidate with the skills, abilities and personal attributes to manage a wide variety of community programs and services should contact the Search Committee via e-mail at: The full job announcement and job description can be obtained by following this link:

Gold Country Community Services provides vital programs like Meals on Wheel, Senior Firewood Program, and affordable classes that contribute to the health and wellbeing of active seniors and the elderly alike. We deliver these services with a workforce of 11 employees and 110 volunteers. Given our impact on the community, we are asking for the community’s help to find the right person to fill this important role.
